North Helix House, Naval Telecommunication Station

Exterior Building Enclosure Assessment Study
Cutler, Maine

When in use, the North Helix house generates strong electromagnetic fields. Leaks within the protected structure from the exterior walls and deteriorated roof system caused a safety concern. Gale reviewed the original drawings to better understand construction methods and materials, evaluated the interior and exterior enclosure, performed an interior leak audit, conducted moisture absorption testing, and performed destructive testing of the roof and wall systems. We were then able to provide an in-depth report of the existing conditions that identified the sources of moisture infiltration and outlined repair alternatives and cost estimates.
