Building Enclosure Enhanced Commissioning

The Project:
Gale was retained to perform building enclosure enhanced commissioning, including peer review and construction period services, for the new Silver Spring Library. The 90,000 sf building consists of five floors and a basement. The library is on the top three floors, with mixed-use office and retail space below. The building has been awarded Gold Level LEED® Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Exterior enclosure elements include multiple stories, custom curtain wall system, terra cotta screen wall, insulated metal panels, and various precast stone masonry cladding systems.
Gale’s Services:
- Peer review and redline markup of drawings and technical specifications related to the building enclosure components, provided summary of Peer Review comments and attended meetings with Montgomery County and the Architect to discuss findings
- Consultation during bid negotiation phase to include RFIs, review of bids, and review of contractor qualifications
- During construction phase: attended pre-installation meetings to review project requirements, performed periodic onsite observations of contractor’s work and provided reports highlighting progress and outlining methods and materials of construction, attended progress and mock-up review meetings; and provided ongoing consult
