Nashua Airport: Runway Feasibility Study
Challenges
- Runway pavement 27 years old in poor condition
- Runway classification inappropriate
- Substandard runway Length, separation, and safety areas
- Obstructed airspace
- Constraints: Rare Species/wetlands/property ownership
- Funding constraints
Gale’s Solution
- Reclassified airport from BII to DII (Gulfstream IV)
- Recommended eliminating secondary runway proposal
- Relocated runway 300 ft.to North/Extended runway by 500 ft.
- Installed new obstruction lights, ILS Glide Path, MIRLS, PAPIs, and relocated Localizer
- Existing runway to remain operational during construction
- Relocate stub taxiways
- Provide standard Runway Safety Areas (500’x1,000’)
- Utilize declared distances to maximize takeoff characteristics
- Prepare Obstruction Analysis and obtain easements to remove airspace obstructions from residential, commercial, and institutional properties
