Fitchburg Municipal Airport: Runway 14-32 Reconstruction

Runway ReconstructionGale is currently assisting the Fitchburg Airport Commission with the reconstruction of its primary runway. Construction for this project is underway and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2020. When complete, this project will shift, realign, extend, reconstruct, mark, light, and sign Runway 14-32 (Approx. 5,000 LF X 100 LF) and parallel taxiway (Approx. 4,850 LF X 35 LF), construct stub taxiways (Approx. 240 LF X 35 LF EA), install precision approach path indicators (PAPIs) on Runways 14 and 32, install runway end identifier lights (REILs) on Runways 14 and 32, and construct new airfield electrical vault. Work will include:

 

  • Construction of Runway 14-32 extended runway safety areas
  • Shift, realign, extend, reconstruct, mark, light, and sign the new Runway 14-32
  • Construct, mark, light, and sign the new parallel taxiways
  • Construct, mark, light, and sign the new stub Taxiways
  • Installation of NAVAIDs:
    • Runways 14 and 32 PAPIs
    • Runways 14 and 32 REILs
    • Installation of new Runway 14-32 edge lights (MIRLs)
    • Installation of new parallel taxiway and stub taxiway edge lights (MITLs)
    • Installation of new airfield electrical vault
  • Installation of surface and subsurface stormwater drainage system
  • Installation of temporary and permanent erosion control measures
  • Construction of wetland restoration areas
  • Construction of other work as shown on the Plans, as specified in the Project Specifications and as directed by the Engineer
