Wellesley High School Track and Field

Gale was engaged by the Town of Wellesley to design and permit a new track and field complex at the high school. The area was bound by a perennial stream and residential neighbors, which made environmentally sensitive design and community input crucial to the project’s success. The project used TPE as an alternative turf infill, a Brock shock pad to enhance player safety and shock attenuation, a waterborne structural spray on the track, permeable surfaces, and sustainable plantings. Gale’s design included a donor recognition wall and entrance plaza that raised over $1 million dollars in private funding for the project.

The Project:

  • New 400 meter urethane track with waterborne structural spray
  • New multi-purpose TPE infilled synthetic turf field
  • New site amenities (scoring, PA system, timing, fencing, landscaping, etc.)
  • Campus entrance improvements including an ADA accessible path, ticket booths, donor bricks, donor wall
  • New visitor seating area
  • Planning for future amenities buildings

Gale’s Services:

  • Site investigation (survey, wetland delineations, geotechnical investigations)
  • Full site/civil design package (sports layout, grading, drainage, utilities, turf design)
  • Extensive permitting
