Matthew P. Caron, AICP
New Hampshire Manager │Director, Airport Engineering and Planning
Why did you choose this career? I took a series of introductory courses in regional planning during my undergrad and became so interested in the subject that I completed the degree program. In many ways, airport planning is much like planning a small-scale community with its many unique intricacies. When the opportunity to join Gale back in 2012 presented itself, I didn’t look back.
What is your favorite part of your job? Our client airports are so immensely different, each with their own strengths and challenges. This provides a wide variety of projects that are never the same. As the adage goes, “if you’ve seen one airport, you’ve seen one airport.”
Who are you outside of Gale? My wife Lori and I have two children, Taylor (9 years old) and Drew (6 years old). During the winter, we enjoy skiing, particularly the various mountains in the North Conway area of New Hampshire. I also enjoy fishing, particularly remote trout ponds, and the Androscoggin River in northern New Hampshire.
Fun Fact: What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation would be a cross county trip in a Winnebago exploring all the National Parks without a time constraint.
